Joffrey Faucon
Product Manager – Strategy and ProductWho are you, what country do you come from and what is your job title?
I'm Joffrey Faucon, a French man who found himself at home in Finland. I'm currently Product Manager for our Intraday Product, but I started with our Clearing and Settlement Product.
What do you like most about your job?
The challenges it brings. Coming from B2C business, coming to the energy market was a different game. I really enjoy the complexity of the products and solutions we have to deliver, the dynamism and diversity of our teams, and overall the feeling to participate in something meaningful: Enabling a better and fairer energy market in Europe and beyond.
What is the hardest part of your job?
Most probably the learning curve. The energy market is not for everyone, it is deeply complex, you need to juggle with both European and local regulation, different customers' needs and priorities, and you cannot honestly understand the whole picture of it after only 6 months. That being said, Nord Pool is such a welcoming place that you can always knock at any door, get support, and ask again and again the same questions. People will always take the time to help you develop the best solutions.
What is the best thing about working in Nord Pool?
It's hard to choose between the noble and meaningful aspects of our business (delivering an efficient and fair energy market looking forward to a green shift) and working with an amazing bunch of dedicated people.
What is the most exciting challenge you have had during your time at Nord Pool?
It could be onboarding during the Covid time. 12 months through and I still haven't meet f2f many people. However, the attitude and the fantastic job done by the People organization on induction made it pretty smooth.
What motivates you?
Working towards a noble BHAG (Big Hairy Audacious Goal in Product Management gibberish). Knowing that with the Nord Pool folks we are building a high-quality product and service, which is having a positive impact on this world, that is motivating.
What do you think about working in the energy sector?
It is quite different from what I expected prior to joining Nord Pool. It is not as old-fashioned and dirty as one may think. Of course, there are the politics behind the scene, but there is a real green shift happening, and not only a greenwashing. The energy market is also evolving so fast that so many new exciting development and technology are involved.
How would you describe your co-workers?
Despite only meeting a few of them face to face, it is a fantastic bunch of people. Professional and dedicated, but already amazing individuals from so many different backgrounds. You learn not only form the business we are in, but also from the people.
Do you have any advice for people thinking of applying to work for Nord Pool?
Don't be afraid of the learning curve or what you think the energy market is. It is such an interesting and rewarding business to work for. Thus, I really have the feeling that Nord Pool not only looks for the best talents but also for the best persons. Some skills you can always learn, so go ahead, join us!
